Hot water tanks / Thermal Storage Tanks

A hot water storage tank (also known as: hot water tank, thermal storage tank, hot water thermal storage unit, heat storage tank and hot water cylinder) is a water tank used for storing hot water.

Hot water tanks can sometimes be found in inconvenient locations around the home including the loft, bedroom or kitchen. Whilst their bulk may sometimes be difficult to hide, they are a necessity if access to hot water is required throughout the day for everyday activities like having a bath and washing dirty clothes.

Whilst most hot water tanks are able to function well for many years, if they are not serviced and cared for after installation, their efficiency will deteriorate and ultimately lose you money as the cost of running them will be high.

A well-insulated tank can retain stored heat for days, reducing fuel costs and be used for log burner wet systems. Hot water tanks are connected to the domestic cold-water supply and have thermostat controls that allows you to regulate the temperature of the hot water, ensuring that you have flexibility and control over your hot water and your bills.

Repairing a hot water tank

If one day you find that there’s a problem and your hot water tank stops working, here’s how can we assist your hot water tank repair:
  1. If you find yourself with no hot water one morning - don’t panic! We always answer our phones and will make every attempt to visit you as quickly as possible. If we’re delayed we’ll call you back to let you know.
  2. If your hot water tank is beyond repair we can replace it with a new hot water cylinder. The models available vary, but we will always do our best to offer options that suits your budget.
  3. If your hot water tank leaks unexpectedly, we can handle any make or model of tank to ensure that your leak disappears as quickly as it sprung up! We have a huge range of high quality parts that we can access immediately.
  4. If the location of your hot water tank is an eyesore in the kitchen, makes too much noise in the bedroom or you want to free up space in the loft – call us! We can help you plan moving your tank to the area of your choice.

So, if your hot water tank is slow to heat, runs out of hot water faster than normal, or does not produce any hot water at all, there’s a 90% chance that simply replacing the heating elements will resolve the problem. Just keep in mind that hot water tanks have a typical life span of 10 to 15 years (it’s 20 or more for tankless). If your heater is approaching the age of replacement, undertaking a hot water tank replacement may be a lot more cost effective than repairing.

So, don’t delay – call us today! One of our friendly and experienced engineers will be very happy to hear from you.
